Dentiblanc PRO Whitening: Much more than a teeth whitener

Dentiblanc PRO Whitening: Much more than a teeth whitener

Our teeth play an increasingly significant role in our growing preoccupation with our appearance. Good looks now go hand in hand with a bright and healthy smile. Oral health generates a level of preoccupation similar to health in general, with 61% of the surveyed population either fairly or very concerned about this issue, according to a study conducted by the Consejo General de Colegios de Dentistas de España [Spanish Dental Association].We are all too aware of the appeal of a beautiful smile, as this is often the first thing we notice in others, whether at work or in our personal lives. Dental problems are the third most common health concern worldwide. Bacterial plaque, an invisible film which forms on the teeth and attaches to their surface, attacking the enamel, is the underlying cause behind most of these ailments. Fortunately, plaque is easy to control if using a dental repair product to clean your teeth. DENTIBLANC PRO WHITENING, in addition to combating plaque formation, protects against cavities, removes stains while preventing their reappearance, reduces tooth sensitivity and cares for the gums, for bright white teeth and healthy, repaired tooth enamel. The attractiveness of a smile A study published by PLOS ONE, a scientific journal, highlighted the fact that both men and women are attracted to people with whiter teeth. The problem is that the teeth are porous, and over the years, they absorb substances which cause discolouration. Smoking and drinking coffee, red wine or drinks with colourants are contributing factors. That is why it is important to use a toothpaste which, in addition to protecting and repairing the teeth, also exerts a whitening effect. Professional formula Laboratorios Viñas has just launched a new and comprehensive product as part of its Dentiblanc range: DENTIBLANC PRO WHITENING, an anti-stain, whitening toothpaste which covers all fronts thanks to its innovative formula that boasts 8 different effects: - Non-nano hydroxyapatite, a natural component of dentin which smoothes and repairs cracks in the outer enamel, whitening the teeth while also reducing dental sensitivity.- Gently abrasive silica particles to polish and whiten the enamel without damaging it.- Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), which creates a protective layer over dentin toprevent the adhesion of the substances responsible for the appearance of stains and bacterial plaque formation.- Fluoride, which remineralises the enamel, protecting it against cavities and creating a barrier against tar and dental plaque.- Betaine, which lubricates the oral mucosa and reduces gum irritation. Since it contains no harsh ingredients and thanks to its neutral pH, it can be used as often as your regular toothpaste.  Proven efficacy An efficacy assessment conducted by dentists has shown DENTIBLANC PRO WHITENING to achieve a satisfaction rate of 100% among users who reported a 96% improvement in tooth whitening compared to 75% and 35%, respectively with other whitening toothpastes. The results were equally advantageous when assessing aspects such as the feeling of clean teeth (100% versus 91%) or scent and flavour (96% versus 81%). The DENTIBLANC range: a product for every need The Laboratorios Viñas DENTIBLANC range features several products and presentations: -       DENTIBLANC INTENSIVE whitening with papaya: ideal for those with healthy teeth who would like a brighter smile. Available as toothpaste and a mouthwash.-       DENTIBLANC EXTRAFRESH whitening with peppermint extract: for those with mild halitosis seeking a more intense flavour without renouncing a brighter smile. Available as toothpaste and a mouthwash.-       DENTIBLANC PRO whitening WITH BETAINE: designed for people looking for a state-of-the-art whitening toothpaste that also cares for and effectively protects the teeth, or those with sensitive teeth or mild gum disease. TIPS FOR OPTIMAL BRUSHING Apart from choosing a good toothpaste, it is essential to follow a few tips to keep your teeth healthy: *Cleaning your teeth after meals is the best way to maintain good oral hygiene. According to data from the General Dental Council, two out of 10 Spaniards do not brush their teeth as often as recommended, and not everyone does it properly. *Bear in mind that after-dinner brushing matters the most. During the night, we produce less saliva, our natural ally when it comes to neutralising plaque. *Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Start with the outer surface. If using a manual toothbrush, brush away from your gums. If using an electric one, spend a few seconds on each tooth. Continue with the inner surface, using the same method. *Brush the part of the tooth closest to the gums using horizontal strokes in a back and forth motion if using a manual toothbrush, and resting the brush for a few seconds on each tooth if using an electric one. *Don't forget to clean your tongue at last once a day, as it is also prone to bacterial build-up. You can use your toothbrush or a tongue scraper, scraping or brushing from the back to the front. *Brushing should last about two minutes. Finish your cleaning routine with mouthwash and dental floss

New Tanit depigmenting stick

New Tanit depigmenting stick

During the summer, as we spend more time outdoors and relax our habits, our skin can easily be subjected to excessive sun exposure. With the advent of autumn, as we resume our everyday habits and our tan fades, we become aware of the traces that the holidays have left on our complexion: sunspots. Now is the perfect time to deal with them, as the sun loses its strength while the skin does not yet have to brace itself against colder winter temperatures. The skin remembers, in that it shows the cumulative damage caused by solar radiation. As its capacity is exhausted, the first signs of photo-ageing become apparent, with deeper wrinkles and pigmentation spots. These predominantly affect women and rank among the most recurrent aesthetic preoccupations in dermatology appointments. Why do pigmentation spots appear? The skin protects itself from sun exposure by producing melanin, a pigment which helps filter out ultraviolet radiation. After excessive sun exposure and as we age, melanin becomes unevenly distributed, causing spots . The most familiar include freckles, moles, lentigines and melasma. This kind of issue is certainly very common. As an example: according to the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) lentigines are observed in up to 90% of Caucasians over the age of 60 years. Melanoma, which consists of irregular and asymmetrical dark spots whose colour varies from light brown to black, deserves a special mention. Melanoma can either appear suddenly or develop from a mole. In this case, we could be talking about skin cancer, and the advice of a dermatologist should be sought without delay. TANIT DEPIGMENTING STICK, blemish-free skin with a single stroke. Tanit, the cosmetic depigmentation brand by Laboratorios Viñas, which retails in pharmacies, boasts a comprehensive range of solutions to this unsightly problem which now features the new TANIT DEPIGMENTING STICK. What makes it such a perfect ally? a)    Formulated with Salicylic Acid for dual exfoliating and skin-lightening effects, reducing hyperpigmentation while promoting cell regeneration.b)    Contains SPF 50+ which prevents the appearance of new spots.c)    Its tinted formula covers the affected area , evening out imperfections and instantly improving the complexion.d)    Suitable for use on face and body.e)    Handy to carry around at all times thanks to its innovative format which allows convenient touch-ups two or three times daily as recommended. For best results: * Remember that sunscreen should also be used in winter and on cloudy days. Protecting your skin from UVB and UVA radiation is the best prevention against pigmentation spots and other signs of ageing. * Always select a good skin-lightening product with proven effectiveness. Carmen Romero Carranza, dermatologist at the AEDV reminds us that "there are no clinical studies or scientific evidence that prove the effectiveness of home remedies like rice water or lemon juice. Therefore, and from a medical perspective, these would no be appropriate".  * Be consistent with your treatment. Read the specific indications for each product, how many times it should be applied, whether it should be used during the day and/or at night, and follow them rigorously.

Laboratorios Viñas: 105 years adding value to the little things

Laboratorios Viñas: 105 years adding value to the little things

On 18 September, Laboratorios Viñas celebrates a very special anniversary: the family pharmaceutical company will clock up 105 years on its life journey, a continuous trajectory of cutting-edge solutions through which it has offered quality pharmaceutical products to the health sector. This life project of its founder, pharmacist Pedro Viñas, started out with the Farmacia Internacional, located on las Ramblas in Barcelona. In the early days, he had the invaluable financial support of his older brother Francisco Viñas, the world renowned Wagnerian tenor. For more than a century, the laboratory has stuck to the same roadmap guiding its corporate mission: to improve the health and quality of life of people through excellence and innovation, winning over doctors, pharmacists and the general population and gaining a reputation as a solvent and socially committed company. Few domestic companies with such a long history have managed to survive under the same premises that led to their founding while remaining an independent family laboratory. The ideals of service to health and the social purpose behind its founding remain fully applicable today as value-added and a hallmark of its identity, evidenced in an integrated company with a team of over 200 people. Over the past 105 years, Laboratorios Viñas has remained faithful to its core values: perseverance, enthusiasm, commitment, innovation, dedication to service, reliability and diversification. Since 1911, Laboratorios Viñas has researched, developed, produced and marketed its medicinal and pharmaceutical products in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including dermatology, gynaecology, paediatrics and general medicine. In all, it is present in 8 categories with more than 200 products, confirming its belief that investigating to find good solutions is key and the diversification of the laboratory's activity in different areas of health, together with its commitment to research are, without a doubt, crucial success factors in this. Indeed, the company's interest in and commitment to research have led to the creation of several of its own formulas, which have generated many original products that, through doctors and pharmacists, have improved the health and quality of life of individuals for over a century. Through its research, Laboratorios Viñas meets the scientific and social aims that have always moved it, surpassing increasingly stringent requirements for quality, safety and efficacy. And when it comes to improving people's lives, there is no problem too big or too small for Laboratorios Viñas: its goal is to improve life in the broadest sense of the word, through science. “Science for your Life”.

Laboratorios Viñas collaborates with the Transpirenaica Social Solidaria 2016 project to help young people at risk of social exclusion

The non-profit association Transpirenaica Social Solidaria (Social Cross-Pyrenean Charity Hike) was set up in 2013 based on the concerns of FiT (Fundació Formació i Treball – Training and Work Foundation) and currently works to improve the integration of young people at risk of exclusion social in an imaginative way. The Transpirenaica Social Solidaria (TSS) is a project carried out all year round but reaches its peak in June and July, when the hike across the Pyrenees takes place: this year it began on 11 June 2016 in Cape Higuer (Hondarribia), in the Basque country, and ended on 23 July at Cap de Creus, Cadaqués (Girona), Catalonia. The hike crosses the Pyrenees on a route spanning over 800 km and 42 stages. A total of 300 young people and 200 professionals from companies and social organisations took part. The primary aim of the initiative is to raise awareness. It seeks to promote socio-educational transformation for vulnerable young people with the mountains as a backdrop. The route is perfect for developing key values such as bettering oneself, companionship, leadership, promoting autonomy and improving personal skills. During the hike, activities led by professionals from different sectors are organised, such as forums, master classes or stops en route to talk about issues of interest to the young people taking part that will help create a more enriching experience.Laboratorios Viñas has pledged its support to theTranspirenaica Social Solidaria project and participated in different ways during 2016: by providing 500 units of Saltratos balsam cream, which is massaged into tired feet and especially indicated for long walks, through the participation of staff from the laboratory, and by making a financial contribution to the TSS to complete the hike. Laboratorios Viñas will participate by preparing and teaching a master class or forum for vulnerable young people in which its professionals will share their knowledge and experience with the youths in one of the activities organised by the TSS in 2016. Laboratorios Viñas has also had – and will continue to have – the possibility of doing awareness-raising work on social inclusion for these young people who are in vulnerable situations for various reasons, including migration or as refugees.

An education and prevention project for Ethiopia started up with charity work sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas

An education and prevention project for Ethiopia started up with charity work sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas

On 2 June at a charity dinner held by the Fundación Piel Sana, during the 44th National Congress of the AEDV (Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology) which was held in Zaragoza, the Solidarity Awards were announced and handed over to the winners of the 2016 edition. For the second year running, the Fundación Piel Sana, the non-profit foundation of the AEDV, together with Laboratorios Viñas, has announced two financial grants for funding two projects for development or healthcare intervention, presented by NGOs, private or non-profit institutions and individuals. On this occasion, the project entitled “Education and prevention of podoconiosis among the school-age population of Gambo (Ethiopia)” led by Doctors Isabel Belloch and Isabel Belinchón won the €12,000 grant, a prize sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas and which will be used to carry out this healthcare intervention in one of the countries most afflicted by this terrible disease that particularly affects children. Mariona Buxadé, on behalf of Laboratorios Viñas handed over the symbolic charity cheque to the winners and said a few words to those attending the dinner. Furthermore, the Fundación Piel Sana allocated the €6,000 grant to the Ndundu Project for addressing skin cancer in albinos in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition, during the evening, other prizes were awarded and were celebrated enthusiastically by all those attending. To opt for these grants, the project has had to meet some basic requirements, the most important of which are as follows: -       identification and specific formulation, which includes realistic expected results, assessment indicators, schedule of actions and budget breakdown;-       meeting real needs;-       aimed at a population and a specific area that is particularly disadvantaged;-       has the support of the local authorities;-       integrated with other actions in progress in the area; and-       of interest for dermatology and has clear and specific health repercussions for dealing with diseases of epidemiological relevance in the area. The project by Drs. Belloch and Belinchón has met all of these requirements and it stood out from the rest of the proposals that opted for these grants: podoconiosis or endemic elephantiasis is an endemic geochemical disease caused by chronic exposure of bare feet to irritant soil, which is characterised by swelling of the lower limbs which, over time, leads to their disfigurement and to disability. It usually occurs in tropical parts of Africa above 1000 meters, and Ethiopia is estimated to be one of the most affected countries. Its effects increase with age. The Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) is a medical association that has been in operation for a century and to which practically all dermatologists in Spain belong. Its aim is to be their meeting point and its purpose is to promote the study of the skin and its diseases to the benefit of patients. In 2007, the AEDV promoted the creation of the Fundación Piel Sana, a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to carry out and support actions that promote improvements in skin health of the population, whether through the generation and dissemination of knowledge regarding prevention, the diagnosis or treatment of its diseases and improving conservation of its health, or through the implementation of specific actions in these areas. Laboratorios Viñas is celebrating the fact that for the second year running it has been able to award these grants at an event that was attended by a large number of people and, without a doubt, it considers this an excellent way to work in pursuit of solidarity. Dermatology has always been one of the health areas with which the company has had a special connection and commitment.
