Great success of the first Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sport Course sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas

Great success of the first Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sport Course sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas

21 May saw the end of the first Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sport Course, held at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR) in Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona), sponsored by Laboratorios Viñas and very positively assessed by those attending. Thirty-five pharmacists attended two weeks of intensive sessions combining theory classes and practical classes given by top-class and well-qualified teachers, both from the academic and sports worlds. The subject matter specifically drawn up for this course was managed by Xavier Gasol, from the School of Sports Medicine (UB), and developed by a multidisciplinary team including doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, physical trainers and Olympic sportsmen and women. One of the aspects to be underlined was the high level of interactivity between speakers, which included the famous Olympic sportsmen Carlos Castillejo and Mario Pestano, and students throughout the sessions, during the breaks and also in the workshops. The willingness of the teachers made the course highly fluid and all queries that arose during the course were resolved, which is something fundamental. The participants took advantage of their contacts during the two weekends to set up powerful, rewarding networking between themselves. Both teachers and students assessed the CAR facilities and the opportunity to stay there and share their experiences on a day-to-day basis with elite sportsmen and women from various sports very positively. The course's primary objective has thus been met: to provide the participating pharmacist with complete, professional training in order to be able to advise anyone, irrespective of the sport they practice, on how to benefit their health through physical activity. The pharmacist, as a health professional, carries out a great amount of work in the community and is the first health professional a citizen can go to for advice. Therefore, Laboratorios Viñas is providing training conceived by and for this group, now also in the sport sector, providing the pharmacist with appropriate tools as used by elite sports professionals, to be able to deal more specifically with any amateur sports enthusiasts who go to the pharmacy. The online course continues until November The online version of this course will continue until November, as anticipated Two hundred pharmacists are following this specific on-line format, which offers an ample, up-to-date textual base, accompanied by tables, figures, decision-making algorithms, additional information and bibliographical references, which give it exceptional added value. In reality, it is the same content as the in-class course adapted to another format and therefore the training will effectively be the same for groups that have taken part in both courses in 2016. Students have a permanent on-line tutorship service until the end of the course in which they can have all their queries answered quickly and easily. Furthermore, the Technical Secretary will be available to them throughout this period.

Laboratorios Viñas presents its new corporate image at Infarma

Infarma, a meeting point for pharmacy professionals in Spain brought together nearly 30,000 attendees, 350 companies and laboratories, during its latest edition held in Madrid this past 8, 9 and 10 March. Laboratorios Viñas kept a stand at the Medicines and Pharmacy Fair where it introduced its new corporate image and hosted a series of activities revolving around four of its main brands. For the first time, all divisions of the company gathered at the Laboratories Viñas stand, open to all professionals in attendance at Infarma, to present its extensive and versatile product portfolio, grouped into different categories: skin care, hair & nail care, hand & foot care, eye care and oral health, as well as pain management and child health. To this end, part of the stand recreated a linear display with room for all brands. Another part of the stand was devoted to offering different experiences intended to bring some of its major brands even closer to visitors. Specifically, four demonstration activities were carried out with the help of experts and professionals: 1.     Hair and nail test sponsored by Vitacrecil Complex Forte, involving a professional analysis of guests' hair and nails based on high-magnification microscopic observation to provide detailed information on their condition. 2.     Beauty care session for sensitive eyes, sponsored by Belcils, intended to discover dermocosmetic solutions to beautify and care for the eyes and lashes while enjoying a professional makeup session. 3.     Therapeutic foot massage, sponsored by Saltratos, where two physiotherapists administered foot massages to attendees and recommended the most appropriate treatments. 4.     Skin pigmentation test, sponsored by Tanit, in which a pharmacist analysed levels of skin moisture, elasticity, sebum, keratin and melanin using a dermoanaliser. Infarma 2016 closed its doors with excellent attendance figures for the Laboratorios Viñas stand thanks to the interest it sparked among pharmacy professionals.

Belcils beautifies your sensitive eyes and cares for them

Belcils beautifies your sensitive eyes and cares for them

The beauty of almond or cherry trees in blossom in the Jerte Valley in Extremadura are two of the sights we enjoy every year, when temperatures start to rise. However, it seems that the unusual temperatures we had last winter will mean that the characteristic spring blossoming will come earlier this year. This event, which in principle would not need to be bad news, reminds us that it is not the only advance we are going to experience. And this early blossoming, which will be extended in time throughout the spring season, is very adversely affecting people who suffer from allergies, who, according to the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Quality, make up 15% of the population, increasing up to 30% in young people.  If you are one of these people, you already know first-hand how uncomfortable it can be to suffer the eye irritation associated with an allergy. However, maybe you do not know the solutions proposed by Laboratorios Viñas in the area of skin care and beauty to prevent possible complications at the height of the allergy season and other irritations affecting sensitive eyes: wearing contact lenses, suffering from a rash, a feeling of having dry eyes or inflammation of the edge of the eyelids (blepharitis). In all these cases, Laboratorios Viñas recommends the adoption of new, healthy eye hygiene habits. And also the use of specific, dermatologically tested products, sold in pharmacies and developed with a hypoallergenic formulae, such as those offered by Belcils, the brand specialising in the care and beauty of sensitive eyes. Particularly sensitive area We all have fully internalised the need for facial care routines. However, most of us do not pay the necessary attention to the skin around our eye contour, eyelids and eyelashes, which requires application of different specific measures, as the skin around the eyes is four times thinner than in the rest of the body and virtually lacks sweat and sebaceous glands to provide it with moisture and protect against factors such as stress or the use of inappropriate make-up. Healthy habits The demands of the skin around our eye contour together with the risk of irritation suffered by sensitive eyes demonstrates the need for specific protection of this area , for the purpose of recovering and/or maintaining good eye health. To achieve this, Belcils proposes  three approaches: following a diet that includes food rich in vitamin A (dairy products, eggs, carrots), C (tomatoes, peppers, citrus fruit) and E (nuts, olive oil, seeds, etc.), adopting a healthy lifestyle, for instance by resting the eyes often or protecting them from the sun with an adequate sunscreen and, finally, always choosing products specifically formulated for the eyes, sold in pharmacies and tested ophthalmologically and dermatologically. Belcils beautifies your sensitive eyes and cares for them Cleaning, treating and making up are the three steps that most women include, or should include, as part of their daily beauty and personal-care routine. In fact, to have healthy eyes you do not need give up making up. And this is also the case for sensitive eyes. You must simply do it with the appropriate products. For this, Laboratorios Viñas has designed the Belcils range, that comprises four categories: Cleansing and care, treatment of the eye contour area, treatment and care of eyelashes and the use of a treatment and hypoallergenic make-up. 1.- Gentle cleansing These make-up removal gels and lotions for the eyes are formulated to gently remove the make-up from the eyelashes and eyelids, without needing to rub the area and respecting the lachrymal pH. Both provide a pleasant feeling of freshness and immediate comfort to tired eyes. Furthermore, they are free from alcohol or perfumes. 2.- Specific treatments for the eye contour area. In addition to cleansing, eye contour skin care is essential. Therefore, Belcils includes three specific products for this: a de-stressing roll-on, an eye bag reducer and a repair cream. The first is ideal for people with problems of dark circles under the eyes, either due to fatigue, inadequate rest or diet habits or due to genetic factors. If your problem is fluid retention, congestion and swelling in the periocular area, the eye bag reducer is the most indicated. And if you are already 30 years of age and think it is the time to begin treating the first wrinkles, no doubt the repair cream will be your greatest ally. 3.- Longer, thicker and healthier eyelashes The anti-eyelash-loss serum and the intensive regenerating cream are an excellent complete treatment for weakened eyelashes, with loss of pigment or for eyelashes with a tendency to fall out. Their formulae include the Biokerafix complex (Fixin, Biotina and Panthenol) and Biokeratin (Vitamin E, Biotin and Panthenol), respectively. In this same category, Belcils has developed a revitalising gel, a protective base to be applied on the eyelashes before make-up, and a revitalising cream, a nourishing night cream to obtain longer, thicker eyelashes. 4.- Make up while continuing your eye care. The entire Belcils make-up line is  hypoallergenic. Thanks to its 4 masks, eyelashes achieve a high coverage while, with the specific ingredients of each of the formulations, different treatments are offered: with the precision mask, eyelashes are lengthened and lined; with the extra-volume mask, thanks to its brush and formulation, their volume is increased; with the strengthening mask they provide a smooth base for make-up and protection at once; and with the colourless moisturising mask they are curled with no risk of breakage and they keep their shape all day long. In addition, the Belcils make-up line includes a hypoallergenic eye-liner in four colours, with two textures (classical and creamy), and an invisible corrector specifically for hiding dark circles under the eyes, reddening, spots, chloasma, etc. and with a formulation enriched with castor oil that provides a high nutrition to the eye contour area, preventing it from drying. Each and every product in the Belcils family is formulated specifically to beautify sensitive eyes and care for them.

Laboratorios Viñas sponsors the first Course on Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sports

Laboratorios Viñas sponsors the first Course on Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sports

Over half of all Spaniards over age 15 played sports in 2015. That is the conclusion of the "Sports Habits Survey 2015" by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, which shows that 53.3% of the population was involved in some type of sports activity, whether on a regular or exceptional basis. 46.2% said they play sports once a week, while 51% work up a sweat at least once a month. A very similar percentage (52.3%) of the least active respondents said they play sports once every three months. In the light of these figures, it can be concluded that there is a very broad swathe of the population with highly specific demands. In other words, nowadays pharmacists have a unique opportunity to meet an unprecedented social demand. Society's growing concern about health, and the progressive increase in the number of people who play sports, makes pharmacists potential pillars of support for these new athletes who are taking their first steps into a healthy lifestyle. This way, rather than being just another option, pharmacies become the first resort for professional advice in nutrition or non-professional sports performance. A demand waiting to be met As pointed out by the "Sports Habits Survey 2015", a large percentage of the Spanish population need to be assisted by a health professional capable of providing advice independently of the type of sports activity involved - whether bicycling, running, trail or triathlon. In order to successfully meet this demand, however, it is essential for pharmacists to receive special, comprehensive professional training, adapted to the needs of this type of consumer. To make this possibility a reality, on 22 February Laboratorios Viñas signed an agreement with the High Performance Centre (Centro de Alto Rendimiento, CAR) of Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) to sponsor the first Course on Pharmaceutical Assistance in Physical Activity and Sports for pharmacists, which will be held in the facilities of the CAR during two full weekends this coming May. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Gemma Buxadé, member of the Managing Board of Laboratorios Viñas, and Mr. Carles Combarros, until now the Director of the CAR of Sant Cugat. They signed the agreement whereby both parties will be putting on these events in the CAR facilities. This Course on Pharmaceutical Care in Physical Activity and Sports reflects the current importance of physical activity as a health-promoting factor. As a result of the large proportion of the population doing routine physical exercise, there has been a rise in injuries and consultations. Pharmacists, as health professionals, play an important role in this context. Consequently, Laboratorios Viñas is offering these two courses so that you can complete a training programme conceived by and for athletes. The course, coordinated by Xavier Gasol (University of Barcelona, School of Sports Medicine), explores subjects selected "ad hoc" by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, physiotherapists, nutritionists, physical trainers and Olympic athletes from both the School of Sports Medicine of the University of Barcelona and the High Performance Centre of Sant Cugat. This course will be taught in person at the CAR's exceptional facilities, which the pharmacists will share with our country's elite athletes. After completing the course, participants will be qualified to advise and inform any citizen, regardless of the type of sports they play. Source: http://www.mecd.gob.es/servicios-al-ciudadano-mecd/dms/mecd/servicios-al-ciudadano-mecd/estadisticas/deporte/ehd/ Encuesta_de_Habitos_Deportivos_2015_Sintesis_de_Resultados.pdf - Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

The experience of Tanit for skin spots

The experience of Tanit for skin spots

Skin spots One of the most visible disorders is skin spots or hyperpigmentation. Skin spots are colour uniformity alterations in a given area of the skin. Although spots may be white, pink or reddish, those with different tones of brown are the most common. This colour is usually due to an excess of "melanin" - the pigment responsible for the colour of the skin and hair. Skin spots may be due to either internal factors, such as hormone imbalances caused by pregnancy or endocrine dysfunctions, or external factors, including excessive sun exposure, the use of photosensitising medicines, or the application of certain cosmetic products that may contain allergens. We all know of the hazards of sun exposure, regardless of the time of year. As a result, skin spots can appear at any time during the year: if we practice sports activities in the open, in the mountains or at sea, sailing or on the beach - even in normal life, walking on the street. It makes no difference whether it is winter, spring, autumn or especially summer: we must be very careful with sun exposure, since it is a key factor in the appearance and increase in skin spots. Health professionals recommend the use of daily solar protection measures to prevent our skin from suffering the consequences of sun exposure. Nevertheless, once the feared spots have appeared, specific recommendations are available. In fact, there is a great variety of products that can be used to treat the skin, and their use is very widespread. It is therefore essential to consult the experts. Constancy: the key to good results One of the keys to obtaining satisfactory results with these products is constancy of use: the recommended dosing instructions are to be followed, and patience is required, since the results are evident and satisfactory in many cases - and the sport colour decreases - provided we follow the instructions of the professionals. What must a good depigmenting product contain? According to the experts, it should contain depigmenting (clearing) agents, antioxidants and chemical and/or enzymatic exfoliants to enhance its synergic action. The product is supplied in different forms: creams, fluids and serum formulations, among others. Laboratorios Viñas launches its new Tanit Intensive Depigmenting Serum Among its best known brands, Laboratorios Viñas offers a line of products specifically developed for the complete treatment of skin spots: Tanit. With the aim of continuing to investigate and develop products thanks to its extensive experience in the world of depigmenting products, Laboratorios Viñas has just launched Tanit Intensive Depigmenting Serum, a formulation ideal for all types of skin thanks to its light texture, rapid absorption and increased concentration of active ingredients that ensure greater efficacy. This product is especially indicated for: Treating and preventing the appearance of spots through its double depigmenting action based on Curcumin and Alba B2 Enzymatic Blocker, which act synergically in two phases of the melanin production process, limiting its formation. In addition, these ingredients exert antioxidant actions that help prevent the appearance of spots.Correcting irregularities thanks to its Nopal flower extract - an enzyme exfoliant that activates the natural skin renewal process with greater intensity and more gentle action than chemical exfoliants.Improving skin tone, with immediate brightness thanks to its illuminating mother of pearl particles. Tanit Intense Depigmentation Serum has been dermatologically tested, with confirmed results: it reduces spots 45% (*) and clears spots in 66% of the women(**), and also improves skin brightness in 77% (**). This product expands the TANIT formulation line and can be acquired in pharmacies. (*) Results of clinical tests in 22 volunteers after 56 days of treatment. (**) Self-evaluation tests in 22 volunteers with senile lentigo during 84 days.
