Reinforcing children's defences

Children's immune systems are still developing, making them much more vulnerable than adults to colds and flu.

Eating a healthy diet should provide all the essential nutrients to strengthen your child's immune system and optimally fight the viruses that cause the main respiratory infections. However, in the autumn and winter, they may need extra help to strengthen their developing immune system, which is still learning to combat external agents.

Some nutrients are directly related to the proper functioning of the immune system, such as some B-complex vitamins. And nature also provides us with substances such as propolis and honey, which have been used traditionally.

Symptoms of low immune system defences in children:

  • Tiredness, a tired child is not a worry in itself, but it may be a sign that their immune system is low.
  • Respiratory infections are very frequent, especially during the first years of life, because their immune system is still developing.
  • Lack of appetite, having a compromised immune system can cause a lack of appetite in children.
