Laboratorios Viñas collaborates with the Transpirenaica Social Solidaria 2016 project to help young people at risk of social exclusion

23-08-2016

The non-profit association Transpirenaica Social Solidaria (Social Cross-Pyrenean Charity Hike) was set up in 2013 based on the concerns of FiT (Fundació Formació i Treball – Training and Work Foundation) and currently works to improve the integration of young people at risk of exclusion social in an imaginative way. The Transpirenaica Social Solidaria (TSS) is a project carried out all year round but reaches its peak in June and July, when the hike across the Pyrenees takes place: this year it began on 11 June 2016 in Cape Higuer (Hondarribia), in the Basque country, and ended on 23 July at Cap de Creus, Cadaqués (Girona), Catalonia. The hike crosses the Pyrenees on a route spanning over 800 km and 42 stages. A total of 300 young people and 200 professionals from companies and social organisations took part.

The primary aim of the initiative is to raise awareness. It seeks to promote socio-educational transformation for vulnerable young people with the mountains as a backdrop. The route is perfect for developing key values such as bettering oneself, companionship, leadership, promoting autonomy and improving personal skills.

During the hike, activities led by professionals from different sectors are organised, such as forums, master classes or stops en route to talk about issues of interest to the young people taking part that will help create a more enriching experience.

Laboratorios Viñas has pledged its support to theTranspirenaica Social Solidaria project and participated in different ways during 2016: by providing 500 units of Saltratos balsam cream, which is massaged into tired feet and especially indicated for long walks, through the participation of staff from the laboratory, and by making a financial contribution to the TSS to complete the hike.

Laboratorios Viñas will participate by preparing and teaching a master class or forum for vulnerable young people in which its professionals will share their knowledge and experience with the youths in one of the activities organised by the TSS in 2016.

Laboratorios Viñas has also had – and will continue to have – the possibility of doing awareness-raising work on social inclusion for these young people who are in vulnerable situations for various reasons, including migration or as refugees.
