Radio Salil and the CAR present "ten recommendations for good sportsmen” to pharmacists across Spain
The Sant Cugat CAR (High Performance Centre for Athletes) and RADIO SALIL are working together to spread their knowledge of sports medicine, gained during years of study, and to share it with all the pharmacists in Spain.
The latest study made by the two institutions was summarised in a list of "Recommendations for health in sport", ten tips to help athletes to enjoy their sports and pharmacists to give them the best possible advice.
On May 22, Radio Salil presented this list at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona (UB) and on Tuesday June 2 it was the turn of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), when over 200 pharmacists attended.
These information sessions include both theory and practice. In the theoretical part, experts explain the different Recommendations to the pharmacists; and later, in the practical part, a renowned physiotherapist and an elite athlete give examples some of the tips, using Radio Salil as the recommended local anti-inflammatory agent.
The speakers at these sessions are always multidisciplinary experts from the CAR: Dr. Til, Chief of Medicine at CAR Sant Cugat, the Terrassa Health Consortium and coordinator of this project; Doctor Bellver, a Doctor at the UAPE-CAR-CST and for the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation, professor of the University of Barcelona School of Sports Medicine and former Vice President of the Catalan Society of Sports Medicine and Michelangelo Cos, a Physiotherapist from the CAR Sant Cugat RFEA (Royal Spanish Federation of Athletics).
Alongside them, contributing his experience in major competitions and taking part in the practical part with Miguel Angel Cos, was Joel Gonzalez, the taekwondo gold medallist at London 2012 and recently proclaimed the World runner-up in Russia.
With the aim of motivating and training pharmacists in Spain in sports medicine so they can advise the athletes who come to their pharmacies, Radio Salil and experts from the CAR plan to present the Recommendations in various cities in the coming months.
